Herron Hum Along
Shuperman

Champions Herron shot to the top of the S-League as they wiped Grilled 0-6 at The Cooking Pot, illustrating the gulf in class between the two top division sides. Dimitri Simon's league debut was far from happy as he barely got a sniff, as national legend Shu Chit-Fu hogged the limelight.

It was a brave decision to throw Simon in instead of bolstering the backline with an additional man, and this time it backfired spectacularly. Grilled did however keep the wolves at bay for much of the first half, although it was clear who was controlling the flow.

Herron finally stepped it up after half an hour of taking the measure of the Birds, and Shu fired a warning shot that Abed-Sulaiman had trouble with. Grilled's couldn't quite clear their lines from the corner, and after a couple of minutes of having the ball played about the perimeter of the penalty area, Swedish defender Pontus Molstål snuck through and helped the ball in.

Grilled were affected by that goal, which would prove fatal two minutes later as none of their defenders took responsibility for Shu's zig-zagging run into the box. Shu is far too good a forward to allow such leeway, and he eagerly met Ashton's cross with the side of his head a split second before Abed-Sulaiman's fist arrived.

Ashton was then booked for not getting a throw-in, but Grilled would rue not simply giving it to him as Sid's hurried throw was intercepted and lofted to Shu, who was hauled down by Fredgård. A clear penalty to the visitors, which was well converted by Chen Haupai.

Grilled got their shape back after a half-time lecture, but the players found it difficult to give their all with no realistic prospect of victory, and it was only a matter of time before they were punished by Shu. A fifth by Peng followed in the 79th minute off comical defending, which led to some fans leaving the stadium.

The humiliation came to a head as Dani Spirig rammed himself into Phong quite purposefully, which got him a straight red from the referee. Worse was to come as Paullin limped away from the ensuing fracas, and had to be substituted with a less than eager Lee Jie Siong.

Abed-Sulaiman had some more work to settle as Herron turned the screws on a ten-man Grilled, and after close attemptes by Ulfsson and Yong-chul, it came down to Shu Chit-Fu to complete his hat-trick.
