Borup For Simon
It turned out that
Terkel Borup's leaving was not wholly without compensation, as Grilled unveiled their new Belgian forward
Dimitri Simon on the same day.
After negotiating a fee of some $5.86 million with Angloma, who were only too happy to take the skilful Borup back to his homeland, Grilled turned around and passed just over S$4.1 million to Swedish club Lokomotiv Chokladsås for Simon.
Borup, who cost S$4 million from Hvinningdal IF some six seasons ago, might have represented a rather poor return on investment for the Birds, but all his coaches remembered him fondly as a great lad to work with.
"He may not have lived up to all his potential with us, but I have no doubt that he'll have a tremendous career." fitness trainer Clemson Ong remarked. "He's simply top drawer."
Opinions were mixed on whether Simon was the right guy for Grilled, but Martinsson for one welcomed the move. "It's sad to lose Borup, but we are much better stocked in midfield than up front." the forward said. "I could really use some help."
