Grilled 2 - 4 Chemistry
rk skies made the crowd of 40375 at The Cooking Pot a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Kai Thorstensen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Joachim Davidse and
Ingemar Wennér. Grilled decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. The following players had been chosen: Dias Paes - Árva, Behr, Talib - Branbilla, Han Kok, MacKinnon, Penati - Rotteveel, Bögengang, bin Mohd Kassim.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Chemistry. They fielded: Lantos - Mamedov, Katrinčák, Chang Chin - Veres, Kong Wai, Atanasie, Giorgini - Géza, Pena, Gehberger.
Grilled used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. The visiting
Lee Pena was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 6 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score.
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim pulled a real crowd pleaser as he, after 11 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when
Panak Mamedov slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against
Valdir Dias Paes, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. 19 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
Kálmán Géza, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Chemistry's
Kálmán Géza after 26 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 1 - 2 lead. Grilled's
Nawaz Talib had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 29 minutes having been played.
Han Lik-Tsun was the replacement. The referee showed Chemistry's
Panak Mamedov the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. Chemistry held the ball, with a clear 55 percent of possession.
A late sliding challenge from Chemistry's
Panak Mamedov was deemed to be his second yellow card offence by the referee, resulting in him being sent off. Grilled were forced to a substitution as
Han Lik-Tsun couldn't continue playing due to the rough treatment, forcing
Chan Woon Jin to come in from the sidelines. After 80 minutes of play,
Domenik Bögengang evened things up for Grilled with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 2 - 2. Chemistry took the lead 81 minutes into the game, scoring the 2 - 3 goal after some elegant plays down the middle.
Meinhart Gehberger was the scorer.
Tiberiu Atanasie of Chemistry received a yellow card after 84 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. After 87 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Meinhart Gehberger who increased Chemistry's lead to 2 - 4. Chemistry claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
Valdir Dias Paes performed admirably for Grilled. However,
Chan Woon Jin made a disastrous appearance. Chemistry's top performer was clearly
Kálmán Géza.
Heng Chang Chin on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 4.
