Twenty2 1 - 2 Grilled
e weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 65934 had shown up at Twentennial Park for the match.
Mauricio Andrés Frutos was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Iso Aljoski and
Martin Dietrichsen. Twenty2 had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. Starters: Tapia - Wai Siong, Putter, Sağlam - Høiland, Sánchez Zorrilla, Moraga, Tse Siong - Mpistis, bin Musa, bin Ahmad.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. The following players took the field: Dias Paes - Lik-Tsun, Behr, Árva - Penati, Branbilla, Han Kok, MacKinnon, 达荣 (Darong) - Rotteveel, bin Ku Zainol.
At the beginning of the game, Twenty2 appeared to have already taken this victory to the bank. Grilled were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Many thought
Wout Putter ought to have been awarded a penalty shot 7 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
Valdir Dias Paes after a determined run through the middle. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 8 minutes allowed
Maikel Rotteveel to score the 0 - 1 goal for Grilled. With 12 minutes played, Twenty2's
Asmawi bin Ahmad found an opening in the visitors' left side defence, but his shot was handled easily by the keeper. Due to some great work on the right wing Twenty2's
Oddvar Høiland was able to even the score after 35 minutes to make the score 1 - 1. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.
48 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
Maikel Rotteveel, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. The defenders were clearly outwitted by Grilled after 59 minutes. The disciplined free kick combination shifted the ball quickly to one side of the box, then back to the other.
John MacKinnon appeared on cue near the post, and steered it past the goalie. 1 - 2. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Twenty2's
Fong Tse Siong was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 60 minutes.
Mazlan bin Rabin was given a chance to change things around. After 60 minutes, Twenty2 switched
Emelino Sánchez Zorrilla with
Fehmi Afacan, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. No matter how hard he tried,
Mohd Syamsuri bin Musa just couldn't get shot past the visitors' right side defence after 61 minutes. Twenty2 put pressure on the visitors' central defence 71 minutes into the game, but
Yang Wai Siong couldn't find an opening. Grilled's
Zoltán Árva was shown a yellow card after 72 minutes for slicing down an opponent. 74 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. Twenty2 claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.
Twenty2's top performer was clearly
Mazlan bin Rabin.
Oddvar Høiland turned in a dismal performance, however.
Subri bin Ku Zainol performed admirably for Grilled.
Han Lik-Tsun was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
