Strawhats 2 - 2 Grilled
e weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 50860 had shown up at Urahara Shoten for the match.
Christophe Broudic was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Grigoris Gagalidis and
Jean-Pierre Spriet. Strawhats tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: van der Berken - Ovando, Matias, Leonhard - Spatafora, Øvereng, Pinto, bin Jusoh, bin Ismail - Pavelka, Chun Min.
Grilled decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Dias Paes - Talib, Lik-Tsun, Ãrva - Penati, Branbilla, Han Kok, MacKinnon, å·åŸŽ (Chuancheng) - Rotteveel, bin Ku Zainol.
Strawhats clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Grilled on this day. A swift counterattack by Grilled resulted in a free kick that
Maikel Rotteveel elegantly twisted into the goal - 0 - 1! After 37 minutes a very unfortunate collision in the penalty area led to Grilled's
Nawaz Talib being carried off the pitch and replaced by
胡 (Hu) 剑勇 (Jianyong) . After 39 minutes, Strawhats sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
Gordan Pavelka, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot and score the 1 - 1 goal. After 40 minutes, Grilled put themselves up by 1 - 2, as
Maikel Rotteveel finished off a strike from the left with a real cannon placed at the far post.
Josiel Conceição was called on to replace Strawhats's
Abdul Nasir bin Ismail after 41 minutes following a nasty collision. Strawhats's
Ole Spatafora got himself booked for a foul.
Maikel Rotteveel was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Grilled's
Ivaylo Mirchev had to come off the bench. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. Strawhats held the ball, with a clear 59 percent of possession.
Darko Ovando sailed high above the opponents as he headed the 2-2 goal in on a corner kick from
Jajá Pinto after 65 minutes of play. After a fine move down the middle
Suhaizi bin Jusoh nearly gave the home side a goal after 71 minutes. The finishing shot went just wide, though. Many thought
Gordan Pavelka ought to have been awarded a penalty shot 82 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
Valdir Dias Paes after a determined run through the middle. The game was close to savage at times, and Strawhats's
Ole Spatafora received a second yellow card after 86 minutes, his ticket out of the game. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Strawhats, with an impressive 57 percent possession of the ball.
Most important Strawhats player was
Gordan Pavelka.
Josiel Conceição was a disappointment, however. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Valdir Dias Paes. On the other hand,
Han Lik-Tsun's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 2.
