Rajah 4 - 3 Grilled
454 punters turned up at Rajah XI Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Timo Honka was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Nikolaus König and
Maths Hassellund. Rajah decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. Starters: Straal - bin Abd Karim, Belmonte, Bjørn - Luengo, Nie Jin, Bustamante, Plasterk - Woon Loong, Wai Guang, Waczyński.
Grilled tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Dias Paes - Talib, Lik-Tsun, Ãrva - Penati, Branbilla, Han Kok, MacKinnon, å·åŸŽ (Chuancheng) - Rotteveel, bin Ku Zainol.
Rajah used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Today, Grilled's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. Some great play up the middle by Rajah led to a chance for
Jacob Bjørn to get the go-ahead goal after 4 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. Grilled's 0 - 1 goal came on a questionable penalty, but
Maikel Rotteveel struck that one home without a second thought. Rajah's
Jacob Bjørn had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 12 minutes having been played.
Nie Yew Wei was the replacement.
Mohd Ariffin bin Abd Karim's free kick after 23 minutes should have scored for Rajah, but the visitors' keeper just managed to get a hand on it. After 24 minutes, Grilled sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
Ciro Penati, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot and score the 0 - 2 goal. The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when
Mohd Ariffin bin Abd Karim, after a brilliant midfield combination through the middle, reduced the lead to 1 - 2.
Maikel Rotteveel increased Grilled's lead to 1 - 3 with a superb free kick strike that flew in just under the far top corner. Halftime score was 1 - 3. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Rajah, with an impressive 56 percent possession of the ball.
Rajah supporters cheered as good work down the right got the ball to
Nie Yew Wei who reduced the visitors' lead after 53 minutes to 2 - 3. The Rajah equaliser came after 76 minutes when
Mohd Ariffin bin Abd Karim floated in a free kick making the score 3 - 3. After a fine move down the middle
Danny Plasterk nearly gave the home side a goal after 77 minutes. The finishing shot went just wide, though.
Danny Plasterk was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner was perfectly redirected by
Sim Nie Jin, but the ball went into the frame.
Lee Wai Guang gave Rajah the lead with 4 - 3, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the keeper's right post. This half belonged to Rajah, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.
Rajah's top performer was clearly
Rafał Waczyński. However,
Nie Yew Wei made a disastrous appearance. Most important Grilled player was
Valdir Dias Paes.
Han Lik-Tsun turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 3.
