Deng Spainbound
Promising 17 year-old playmaker Deng Than Mai had to endure days of uncertainity before Spanish Division Twelve club R.C. Gelmirez B signed him up on an apprentice contract.
"It was silly that we didn't get any interest in Deng when we first made him available, because he was that close to making it to Grilled's senior squad," a Grilled youth coach remarked. "Probably it was just bad timing on our part."
While there were no takers for Grilled's initial S$20000 valuation, after Deng was allowed to leave on a free neighbouring Division Four club Forza Ommisal indicated that they wanted him. Zaanse mayonaise (Dutch Division Eleven) and liverpool tuzara (Bulgarian Division Six) quickly followed, but Gelmirez topped all with their S$8000 offer.
