Embattled Grilled coach
Luis Alcántara confirmed reports that the club would be allowing several veteran players to leave, foremost among them iconic 33 year-old winger
Ma Dai-Lin.
"The board has a new policy on squad size and older guys. It's heartwrenching to ask our longtimers to go, but many of them are approaching retirement and frankly will not see another day of professional soccer here."
"I've personally talked to
Chen Chiew-Yen,
Gao Seng-kar,
Hang Bao-Tam,
Ma Dai-Lin and
Nui Pakpao amongst others. All of them are the wrong side of thirty, and agree in principle to the move. It'll not be easy for them, but even the greatest footballers go to smaller clubs before hanging up their boots. Dai-Lin in particular still has it in him to make a difference for a new team, like Tom Pence did for us seasons ago."
The players involved will soon be transfer-listed, staggered over the next few weeks.
