Lian Earns His Stripes
After Quah Han-Kok made it big from the 'B' Division, Grilled have seen an influx of teens at their trials, and 17 year-old Lian Chun-Wah rose from the ranks to become the youngest member to get an overseas contract today. The vibrant striker proudly modelled the black-and-white diagonal stripes of his new club, Norway Division Five's Zebra Town.
"It was a good move. Zebra Town are dedicated to nuturing young forwards, and Lian will benefit from practising regularly with the likes of 18 year-old Òscar Lagunas, who cost Zebra Town S$4.4 million a week ago. He definitely has pro-level pace, which he used to drag his rather mediocre school team to the district semi-finals." his youth academy trainer complimented.
Grilled initially put a tag of S$300 000 on Lian, and were quickly offered a hundred grand more by Romanian Division Four club The Hattrick Shogunate. Lian refused to bite, and soon Eran metrostars (Israeli Division Three), BK Tokboll (Swedish Division Four), FC St. Johann (Swiss Division Six) and kleinepoes (Holland Division Six) came knocking.
Zebra Town of Olso made the best bid as negotiations closed, and they settled terms of S$546 000 for Grilled's kid striker.
