Choong A RedBull Fighter
One player would travel to Switzerland with the rest of the Grilled squad, but not catch the same flight home - the special case was Choong Yeow Lai, a 17 year-old wingback who had won a contract with Polish Division Eight side RedBull Fighters Jarocin on Tuesday.
The willing runner had been asked by Italian Division Eight team rapid vadino about his future, but good reviews soon brought interest from Altopiano (Italian Division Nine), Fc Klodian (Slovenian Division Six) and INTER_AH (Chinese Division Five) as well.
White Hot Rhinos (Australian Division Four) figured highly in Choong's consideration, while Isi disi (Spanish Division Nine) chipped in with a S$24 000 offer. The Booghy Pimps (Romanian Division Eight) and Sela FC (Italian Division Nine) were ready to top that, but RedBull won out at the end as they made a double swoop for Choong and local boy Szymon Galwa.
Choong trained for the last time with the Birds at the Arena de Orishas, before a farewell dinner and a regional short-haul plane ride to Wielkopolskie, Poland.
