Grilled 1 - 1 Chemistry
860 spectators arrived at The Cooking Pot, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Tomasz Chromik was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Arístides Guerrero and
Friedrich Christian Belke. Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Abed-Sulaiman - Zywczyn, Fredgård, Bona - van Liere, Spirig, Kek-Tjiang, Paullin, Han Kok - Martinsson, Kadak.
Chemistry tactics involved an interesting 4-3-3 combination. The following players took the field: Lantos - Chang Chin, Dong Tse, Huat De, Kai-Xi - Broos, Caen-Khim, Haafkens - Nunez, Chin Long, El Boubakri.
For their match strategy, Chemistry had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. After a fine move down the middle
Lorenz Paullin nearly gave the home side a goal after 6 minutes. The finishing shot went just wide, though.
Brúnó Lantos had to be alert to tip
Sylweriusz Zywczyn's fantastic penalty kick over the bar, denying Grilled a chance at the lead. A great pass from the defensive line of Chemistry resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by
Tan Huat De in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high.
Heng Chang Chin of Chemistry received a yellow card after 31 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Grilled could have put themselves ahead after 32 minutes but
Lorenz Paullin missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right. Chemistry's counterattacks created a good chance for
Ho Chin Long on the right, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 77 percent of the time.
A questionable penalty 63 minutes in gave the home side the lead, 1 - 0. The visitors' goalie didn't stand a chance as
Sylweriusz Zywczyn knocked the ball home. After 75 minutes,
Maynard Nunez sent the corner kick right to
Oh Dong Tse who headed it sharply past the keeper. 1-1! Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Grilled's
Ola Martinsson a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 76 minutes into the game. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 77 percent of the time.
Most important Grilled player was
Shen Kek-Tjiang.
Quah Han Kok was a disappointment, however. Chemistry's top performer was clearly
Brúnó Lantos.
Oh Dong Tse was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 1.
