Rovers 0 - 3 Grilled
90 spectators had come to Ad Astra this cloudy day.
Alexios Paspalas was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Hinz Endt and
Mikko Kortetjärvi. Rovers tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination. Starters: bin Nik - Isdal, Rosado, Kampstra, Puig, Langer - Eriksen, Yo-ichi, White - Hall, Tinkler.
Grilled decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Bao-Tam - Alcántara, Bona, Zywczyn - Abd Hamid, Borup, Rottman, Spirig, Han Kok - Hjortlind, Kadak.
The strategy for Rovers on this day was to use their ability to press. 0 - 1 was the score with 18 minutes played, after Grilled's
Jaan Kadak cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal. Rovers's
Guan Yo-ichi had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 21 minutes having been played.
Enrique Gómez was the replacement. 25 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. 35 minutes in, Grilled's
Sylweriusz Zywczyn received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 66 percent possession of the ball.
With 52 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
Bukhari Abd Hamid. Confident in their lead, Grilled decided to play a more defensive game at this point. 66 minutes into the game, Grilled were awarded a penalty and
Sylweriusz Zywczyn was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 3 rolling the ball in by the right post. Rovers pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. As
Dani Spirig had, completely unprovoked, swept the legs out from under an opponent in front of a linesman, the referee gave the Grilled player a red card without batting an eyelid.
Manny Tinkler caught everyone by surprise with a unexpected volley after 84 minutes.
Herschel Hall was perfectly placed to take advantage of the play, but unfortunately, he was as surprised as anyone and couldn't finish for Rovers. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
Manolo Rosado performed admirably for Rovers.
Ahmad Shahrul Azhar bin Nik was a disappointment, however. Most important Grilled player was
Jon Andrea Rottman. However,
Luis Alcántara made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 3.
