Mariners 0 - 5 Grilled

brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 40000 to Field Walk Stadium. César Velasco Tovar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Gustavo Sampaio and Luc Frehner. Mariners had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Batista - Kelly, Benoit, Vos - Nilsson, Carlsson, Alexandersson, Karlsson, Hubscher - Zarza, Silverdahl.

Grilled tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Abed-Sulaiman - Liehner, Bona, Alcántara - Siu-Yue, Spirig, Jie Siong, Borup, Kek-Tjiang - Wai-Kin, Martinsson.

Mariners seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Grilled had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 4 minutes in when Ola Martinsson came up alone against Vítor Batista who managed a block. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 5 minutes allowed Cao Wai-Kin to score the 0 - 1 goal for Grilled. Grilled's Terkel Borup received a play slashing through the home side's central defense after 15 minutes, and chipped it past the keeper to score the 0 - 2 goal. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. The referee showed Mariners's Andreas Alexandersson the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 22 minutes into the game, Fabian Bona had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Lan Tuan-Mu. Grilled came close to extending their lead as Cao Wai-Kin delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 30 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. 33 minutes into the game, Samuel Benoit had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Sha Chang-Yuk. Terkel Borup increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 3. By now, Grilled were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. Halftime score was 0 - 3. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 63 percent possession of the ball.

It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why Ola Martinsson found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. Ola Martinsson increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 4. After the ball was lifted in from the left, Ola Martinsson was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 67 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. Ola Martinsson could have added one to the visitors' lead if his free kick had gone just a little lower. The visitors' Lan Tuan-Mu took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and central backs 83 minutes into the match. 0 - 5 for Grilled. Sha Chang-Yuk of Mariners received a yellow card after 83 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 60 percent of possession.

Most important Mariners player was Sergio Zarza. However, Ian Hubscher made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman. Lan Tuan-Mu was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 5.
