ear skies welcomed the 51714 spectators who had made their way to The Cooking Pot. Jani Rummukainen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Walenty Skomorowski and Joni Leisto. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. They fielded: Dias Paes - Árva, Lik-Tsun, Talib - Penati, MacKinnon, Branbilla, Spirig, Han Kok - Rotteveel, bin Ku Zainol.

Shining started off with a 1-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Gago - Rebasa - Wagemaker, Khong Hai, Yun Yeow, Huf, Ting Leng - Long Yi, Kuan Yew.

The defenders were clearly outwitted by Grilled after 2 minutes. The disciplined free kick combination shifted the ball quickly to one side of the box, then back to the other. Matthias Branbilla appeared on cue near the post, and steered it past the goalie. 1 - 0. With 8 minutes of the game having been played, Teng Yun Yeow received a blow to the hip in a collision, and was unable to continue. Shining, with no available replacements, had to face the prospect of finishing the game with a reduced number of players. 33 minutes into the game, Shining seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to weak. 34 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Subri bin Ku Zainol dashed through, knocking home 2 - 0 for Grilled. After this, Grilled lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. 35 minutes into the game, Shining had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to poor. Grilled solidified their lead at the 37 minute mark, as John MacKinnon manoeuvered the ball through the opposing central defence and finished for 3 - 0. After 38 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Shining found themselves out of position and their organization level dropped to poor. Grilled put themselves up 4 - 0 when Quah Han Kok broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Grilled's Nawaz Talib a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 40 minutes into the game. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's Ciro Penati putting the lead up to 5 - 0. The teams went for the halftime break at 5 - 0. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 74 percent possession of the ball.

During the break, Shining's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to passable organization. Cheers filled the stadium as Maikel Rotteveel broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the 6 - 0 goal for Grilled. When Lin Khong Hai left the game because of a back injury after 62 minutes, Shining had to continue a man short due to there being no more available substitutions. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Zoltán Árva squirmed himself through their central defence after 73 minutes, bringing the lead to 7 - 0. Ciro Penati gave Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 8 - 0 after 77 minutes, following a good exchange of passes on the right that the away team failed to deal with. Zoltán Árva had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 80 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. 84 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Subri bin Ku Zainol dashed through, knocking home 9 - 0 for Grilled. 85 minutes into the game, Shining seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a poor level of organization. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 85 percent of the time.

Grilled's top performer was clearly Valdir Dias Paes. Ciro Penati was a disappointment, however. Shining's best player was Tan Long Yi. Harm Wagemaker turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 9 - 0.
