Penguins 3 - 0 Grilled
scorching day at The Igloo Dome, where 68600 spectators were in place for today's match.
Octavio Bon was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Marco Criniti and
Santo Cavazzano. Penguins had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. They fielded: You De - Crescentino, Amora, Geosits - Sun Nee, bin Husin, La Salvia, Idriss - Mowat, Tze Sian, Kronabether.
Grilled tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. They fielded: Dias Paes - Árva, Lik-Tsun, Talib, Deme - Penati, MacKinnon, Branbilla, Spirig, Han Kok - Rotteveel.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Grilled. Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile
Valentim Amora.
Nawaz Talib came close to putting the visiting team one up 17 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
Wang You De managed to tip the ball to a corner. After 19 minutes,
Alejandro Luis La Salvia sent the corner kick right to
Markus Idriss who headed it sharply past the keeper. 1-0! Penguins added another goal to their lead as
José Alfredo Crescentino struck home the 2 - 0 goal after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper. After 28 minutes,
Su Sun Nee put Penguins ahead 3 - 0 when he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. By now, Penguins were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. 3 - 0 was the halftime score. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Penguins, with an impressive 57 percent possession of the ball.
Han Lik-Tsun suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing, when a counterattack by Grilled caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Grilled's
Maikel Rotteveel a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 77 minutes into the game. Unfortunately for Penguins,
Ashaari bin Husin was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
Arkadiusz Lubawski replaced him.
Matthias Branbilla didn't pace himself at all, and after a series of daring offensive runs he was too tired to help out in the defensive play.
Luo Tze Sian should probably have put his team up another goal after 84 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
Valdir Dias Paes kept the visitors in the game. This half belonged to Penguins, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.
Penguins's best player was
Hennes Kronabether. However,
José Alfredo Crescentino made a disastrous appearance.
Valdir Dias Paes performed admirably for Grilled.
Sándor Deme on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 3 - 0.
