rk skies made the crowd of 7000 at Changi Bowl a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Martin Martin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Oluf Ralle and
Pompeu Claramunt. Equator decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Ja-Kwan - Vikesh, Yong-Hong, Kwang-Huat, bin Hassan - Feng-Linag, Sen-Hee, Sing-Wie, Chih-Han - Shui-Hao, Phuntsok.
Grilled started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Dias Paes - Fjällbratt, Árva, Deme - Chowdhury, Seng-Huat, Mirchev, Branbilla, Penati - Rotteveel, Hjortlind.
The home keeper expected a move to the right, but
Matthias Branbilla surprised him with a free kick aimed the other way 16 minutes into the match. 0 - 1 for Grilled.
Tapesh Chowdhury increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 2. Equator's
Megat Amir Faisal bin Hassan was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 35 minutes. Grilled's
Valdir Dias Paes left the field after 37 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
Hang Bao-Tam.
Ulf Hjortlind became the new Grilled captain. With 38 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 0 - 3 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
Peter Fjällbratt. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Grilled's
Ulf Hjortlind a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 41 minutes into the game. Grilled had to make a substitution after 42 minutes.
Sándor Deme limped off the field and was replaced by
Luis Alcántara. It was 0 - 3 at the break. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 68 percent possession of the ball.
Peter Fjällbratt's lack of experience almost gave Equator a goal after 46 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. The visitors'
Matthias Branbilla took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and central backs 47 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for Grilled. Confident in their lead, Grilled decided to play a more defensive game at this point. The game had been on for 69 minutes when
Maikel Rotteveel broke through on the right, upping the score for Grilled to 0 - 5, much to the home crowd's dismay. 83 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 6 as
Maikel Rotteveel finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
Qi Yong-Hong of Equator received a yellow card after 84 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The game had been on for 85 minutes when
Maikel Rotteveel broke through on the right, upping the score for Grilled to 0 - 7, much to the home crowd's dismay. That made three goals for
Maikel Rotteveel and he was marked down for the hat trick. A surprising free kick routine after 87 minutes nearly resulted in another goal for the visitors, but the ball went just a little wide. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 72 percent of possession.
Equator's top performer was clearly
Mo Shui-Hao.
Ishaya Vikesh on the other hand, had a terrible day. Grilled's best player was
Maikel Rotteveel. However,
