Grilled 4 - 1 Herron
e crowd of 57904 turning up at The Cooking Pot today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Søren Bæk was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Samuli Jaaro and
Terje Nøren. Grilled started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Dias Paes - Zywczyn, Lik-Tsun, Talib - Edmond, Paullin, MacKinnon, Han Kok, Spirig - Rotteveel, bin Ku Zainol.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Herron. They fielded: Mohd Nadzir - Ulfsson, Haupai, 天康 (Tiankang) - Teixidó, Zandberg, Meng Siong, Boulant, Ashton - Chit-Fu, Jähnisch.
The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 9 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
Maikel Rotteveel, who, unaided, came in from the right wing hooking the ball over the visitors' keeper. The rain made it hard for players like
Sylweriusz Zywczyn to show their technical control of the ball on this soggy day. Cheers filled the stadium as
Nawaz Talib broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the 2 - 0 goal for Grilled. Confident in their lead, Grilled decided to play a more defensive game at this point. Grilled added another goal to their lead as
Sylweriusz Zywczyn struck home the 3 - 0 goal after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's
Maikel Rotteveel putting the lead up to 4 - 0. The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 0. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 66 percent of possession.
There wasn't much opportunity for rapid movements on this wet day, which hindered
Gidi Zandberg in particular. Grilled's
Sandy Edmond saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 70 minutes. A well placed corner kick from
Chen Haupai was followed by
Richard Ashton's hard but accurate header. The nice combination marked a goal for Herron, the score now 4-1.
Quah Han Kok could have put Grilled up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 77 minutes.
Quah Han Kok almost managed to score another goal for Grilled, coming from the right, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors' keeper. With 79 minutes played, Grilled's
Subri bin Ku Zainol fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked
Subri bin Ku Zainol for diving. After an industrious effort down the middle,
Subri bin Ku Zainol could have closed the game off after 80 minutes, but his finishing shot hit the post. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 64 percent of possession.
Most important Grilled player was
Valdir Dias Paes.
Dani Spirig on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Herron player was without a doubt
Florian Jähnisch. On the other hand,
周 (Zhou) 天康 (Tiankang) 's play was disheartening. The match ends 4 - 1.
