Grilled 1 - 2 never

258 spectators arrived at The Cooking Pot, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Falke Erlandsen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Folckert Witschke and Anton Olah. Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this West derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents. Grilled decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. Lineup: Beckman - Zywczyn, Lik-Tsun, Talib, Bona - Han Kok, MacKinnon, Paullin, Jie Siong, Spirig - Rotteveel.

A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for never. The following players took the field: Riis - Alameda, Quoc-Sung, Chun-fai, Moniz - Ferrer, Ovesson, Morariu, bin Ahmad - Nilsson, Sunesson.

For their match strategy, never had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. 0 - 1 was the score with 14 minutes played, after never's Stefan Nilsson cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal. Maikel Rotteveel made a superb strike after 28 minutes with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 71 percent of possession.

Stefan Nilsson's speed was clear to see after 49 minutes as he darted past his marker and struck an opening pass to Andreas Sunesson who scored the 0-2 goal. The structure of the game started to change as never decided to pull back and meet their opponents in their own half. Grilled's fans were urging them forward as they tried to get back into the game, and their vocal support was rewarded 55 minutes into the match as Dani Spirig ran onto a beautiful ball played through the visitors' defence and slotted it past the keeper to reduce the deficit. 1 - 2. Grilled put pressure on the visitors' central defence 72 minutes into the game, but Maikel Rotteveel couldn't find an opening. Grilled's Fabian Bona refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 76 minutes. A series of fine plays up the middle should have led to a goal for Grilled, but Lee Jie Siong's shot went over the bar. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 74 percent of the time.

Most important Grilled player was Lorenz Paullin. Nawaz Talib was a disappointment, however. never's top performer was clearly Kalle Riis. Miguel Moniz turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
