Singapore 1 - 2 Grilled

000 spectators arrived at The Dome Of The White Lion, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Kurt Rauschenplat was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Alexander Stuckrad and Călin Anghelescu. Singapore had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Tian Kum - Khoi-Khoa, Shiu-Fai, Kok-Peng - Shui-Ngok, Kiong Kiong, Cuero, Wenghae, Tegelberg - bin Mohamed, bin Md Johadi.

Grilled tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. The following players had been chosen: Abed-Sulaiman - Zywczyn, Lik-Tsun, Talib, Bona - van Liere, Han Kok, Kek-Tjiang, Spirig, Paullin - Jie Siong.

The strategy for Grilled on this day was to use their ability to press. After 14 minutes, Lorenz Paullin sprinted between the opposing defenders, but the keeper deflected Lee Jie Siong's shot. Singapore had a good opportunity to take the lead as Mohd Satar bin Mohamed came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman. Singapore fans held their breath as Rafael Cuero scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the go-ahead goal for 1-0! The pressing tactics used by Grilled were successful at containing their opponents. After 39 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Jue Shiu-Fai might have resulted in another goal for Singapore. However, Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman made a spectacular save. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. This half belonged to Singapore, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

The pressing tactics used by Grilled were successful at containing their opponents. The visitors refused to give up and, after 63 minutes, Quah Han Kok scored the tying 1 - 1 goal as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. Many thought Syamsul bin Md Johadi ought to have been awarded a penalty shot 85 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman after a determined run through the middle. Singapore claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

As neither team had managed to win, extra time was called. Mohd Satar bin Mohamed knocked the corner to ZhangCai Khoi-Khoa who had the whole net open before him, but his attempt hit the post. Grilled took the lead 98 minutes into the game, scoring the 1 - 2 goal after some elegant plays down the middle. Fabian Bona was the scorer. Game over, Grilled wins!

Singapore's top performer was clearly Jue Shiu-Fai. However, Mohd Satar bin Mohamed made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's best player was Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman. Lee Jie Siong turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
