Grilled 3 - 3 Herron

ercast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 88621 at The Cooking Pot today. Janne Ahlapuro was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Stefan Brooks and Juste Prot. Grilled started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Abed-Sulaiman - Zywczyn, Talib, Bona - van Liere, Han Kok, Paullin, Spirig, Jie Siong - Martinsson, Simon.

Herron had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Lineup: Mohd Nadzir - Haupai, Boulant, Ulfsson, Molstål - Ashton, Zandberg, Hyoung-zoo, Yong-chul - Chit-Fu, Jähnisch.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Herron on this day. Herron's Shu Chit-Fu showed his experience after 6 minutes, as he expertly set himself up to take advantage of a rebound off the crossbar, but his shot was tipped harmlessly out of the way. Grilled were very close to putting themselves one up after 28 minutes as Dani Spirig got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. 32 minutes in, the unpredictable Hidde van Liere of Grilled fired a sudden long range shot that flew only inches wide of the post. Grilled took the lead after 33 minutes, as a result of Ola Martinsson's awkward, but ultimately successful, shot from the right. 1 - 0. 41 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Ola Martinsson dashed through, knocking home 2 - 0 for Grilled. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.

Herron fought on and, after 55 minutes, Richard Ashton was able to reply with the 2 - 1 goal after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with an incredibly clever chip. Dimitri Simon gave Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 1 after 64 minutes, following a good exchange of passes on the right that the away team failed to deal with. Confident in their lead, Grilled decided to play a more defensive game at this point. Grilled's Dimitri Simon refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 71 minutes. Ola Martinsson unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Herron almost scored after a swift counterattack 75 minutes into the game, but Pian Hyoung-zoo put the shot from the left flank just outside the goal. A bit later, Herron's Shu Chit-Fu easily reduced to 3 - 2 after a misunderstanding in the home side's central defence. The visitors refused to give up and, after 82 minutes, Shu Chit-Fu scored the tying 3 - 3 goal as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.

Grilled's top performer was clearly Quah Han Kok. Fabian Bona was a disappointment, however. Most important Herron player was Abd Rauf Mohd Nadzir. On the other hand, Barthélémy Boulant's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 3.
