Belgrade 1 - 2 Grilled
ear skies welcomed the 10089 spectators who had made their way to Belgrade Arena.
Mileta Bogdanović was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Notis Kalvos and
Zsolt Seress. Belgrade tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Igland - Finlayson, Brekke, Staris, Krestin - bin Mohd Derus, Walther, Vanaken, van Ginkel - Picazo, Fuglsig.
Grilled started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Bao-Tam - Zywczyn, Talib, Bona - Chuan Jing, Han Kok, Jie Siong, Spirig, Ødegaard - bin Yaacob, Simon.
Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 8 minutes allowed
Quah Han Kok to score the 0 - 1 goal for Grilled. Belgrade almost scored after a swift counterattack 18 minutes into the game, but
Alberto Picazo put the shot from the left flank just outside the goal.
Johnatan Vanaken of Belgrade received a yellow card after 20 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Belgrade's
Kim Fuglsig showed his experience, anticipating the outcome of the opponent's defensive clearance and positioning himself perfectly to volley in an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box. 1 - 1. Grilled had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 29 minutes in when
Fabian Bona came up alone against
Anders Igland who managed a block. A great pass from the defensive line of Belgrade resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by
Musa bin Mohd Derus in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 76 percent of the time.
Grilled took the lead 50 minutes into the game, scoring the 1 - 2 goal after some elegant plays down the middle.
Lee Jie Siong was the scorer. The home crowd cheered when, after 63 minutes,
Dani Spirig's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 70 percent possession of the ball.
Most important Belgrade player was
Conrad Finlayson. On the other hand,
Tobias Walther's play was disheartening. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Nawaz Talib. However,
Lim Chuan Jing made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 2.
