Three Achievements
Gibraltar IV.19 club Achievements United II, as recently rebranded from JK Inkeri Sisu, picked up two trainees from Farmer Bunnies and one from Grilled Birds today. A long future there is however not assured with ambitious new Swedish head coach Per-Håkan Olofsson swinging the axe willy-nilly on high volume, but the youngsters accepted the deal nonetheless, having put themselves out for far too long.
This was especially the case for Buns winger Richard Okazaki, who is less than two weeks from turning twenty; after a rough and late start to his apprenticeship that saw him turned down by Ang Moh Sparks, Okazaki graduated when over eighteen and a half years old, or well over the odds for the usual top picks. Family commitments would further prevent him from committing full-time to his search, and it was therefore with great relief that he accepted this contract.
It was a similar story with his Rabbits junior Ravi Bose, a speedy forward who had just turned eighteen several days back. They were joined by 18 year-old Chicken Wings defender Tatya Mahadik, whose case for a professional career was bolstered by an excellent left foot from free-kicks.
"I'm just glad that Tatya got his chance." Wings scout Lim Hock Puay declared. "They're all fundamentally good kids, and if it doesn't work out - at least they got to try."
