Kavi Turns Pro
There would be great fanfare at Carrot Field, as reigning Young Player of the Season Kavi Chakraborty turned in his academy kit, at the age of 17 years and 108 days. Hailed as perhaps the most complete pure midfielder that the Rancher Rabbits had ever unearthed, Kavi is now available for clubs to approach, having turned down all agents previously on the advice of his mentors.
His Rabbits scout Tong Han Kong acknowledged his near-complete mastery of playmaking fundamentals at this level. "I'm sure it won't get to Kavi's head, although he does get quite competitive on the pitch - which is good. Watch out for Yeo Min Kok too, he's a midfielder very much in the same mould, even if it's hard to judge his true potential at this point."
Over at The Cooking Pot,
Tian Yonghang admitted that finding new clubs for
Gandhik Chitre and
Brian Reddy was more complicated than expected. "It might be a sign of how the wider economy is doing." the Grilled Birds gaffer offered. "Which is, not very well. My coffeeshop kakis have been constantly complaining about how hard it is for their kids to find and hold jobs."
Still, Tian has been keeping on top of the transfer market, having mentioned Taiwanese defender Cheng Kaizhi - lately of former Panama cupwinners Viscaya Calcio - as a player he felt could improve the squad. Cheng would upgrade to LPF defending Copa del Istmo holders Íntérnaciônaléx for S$6.6 million, though, as Tian hinted that ex-Jordanian centreback Barak Abdullat of Chilean III.15 side Luchito Mario FC, was off limits too.
"Oh, and we had feelers from Wee Ping Fu's representatives, about how he was eager to return to the Birds." Tian concluded. "Remember him? Top Wings forward, travelled all over Europe, the subject of three eight-digit transfer fees. Unfortunately, we're totally packed in his department, else I would have been tempted for the price Team Mopsi is asking."
