Lights Out Darko
Bosnia and Herzegovina winger "
Donnie"
Darko Andrović was the next Grilled Birds player to leave, with Brazilian II.4 club Binho F.C. negotiating a S$5 million fee for the 32 year-old. Proud holders of a Copa Rubi from some 33 seasons ago, Binho F.C. came agonizingly close to a first appearance in the Campeonato Brasileiro with their second-place Division Two finish last term, and young Italian boss Andrea Murina is looking for the man to take them there, after Australian goalkeeper Cameron Schaefer didn't quite work out.
Grilled Birds head coach
Tian Yonghang emphasized that Andrović remains one of the best wing options the team had, but that the squad and wage bill just had to be trimmed. "Darko is very well-liked here, and it was with great reluctance that we placed him on the transfer list. I think the Brazilian league suits him, and we all hope that he picks up more trophies there, as Binho's new Number Seven!"
Tian admitted that losing both captain Ha Qicai and now vice-captain Andrović within the span of a few days had affected morale, but that it had to be done - and if so, there was no better time. "We only had a far-outside shot at the title anyway, so it makes sense to do our settling-in now." Tian would then neither confirm nor deny rumours that he had been looking at Iraqi side Dengbej Dalkurd FF's Dutch defender Janus Krul, who had gone to Cape Verde Campeonato Nacional club Sporting Malies for about S$5.5 million instead.
Grilled International utility man Erik Toga would also depart, in his case for Greek V.211 outfit Hercules1908, as part of Sotiris Staramopoulos's mass recruitment drive. Bees scout Adinath Pant revealed that the 17 year-old certainly had a sense of humour, regarding his destination. "Toga, Greece - almost too convenient, isn't it?"
