Nöpön Yakobus Yes
Finnish VI.799 favourites Nöpön Pallo signed 18 year-old Grilled International trainee goalkeeper Yakobus Syafril for a nominal fee of S$8000 today, a day after taking Nepalese candidate Shyam Khatveni - who had been sent off in his domestic debut - on from Sesimbra Nepal. Young gaffer Roope Pekkala has been known for casting his net wide, though, with many of his free transfer signings still waiting to get minutes in the senior side.
Busy Bees scout Zulfadly bin Hj Ratano urged Pekkala to give Syafril a fair go. "He's a modern custodian who's good with the ball at his feet, while having excellent reactions." Zulfadly claimed. "All he needs is the right platform and support, to grow as a player."
It remained ominously quiet at The Cooking Pot as
Tian Yonghang made good on his promise to conduct his final training sessions in secret, although he did throw a bone to the press corps with brief daily comments. Tian's biggest revelation of the day was that Grilled Birds had been considering Plajax midfielder Zheng Tse Feng, but ultimately did not approach the Spanish Division Five club with a concrete offer for the 28 year-old former Kungfu 11 lad, due to having signed
Hisham Zubari.
"Time will tell if that was the wise choice - but I am pretty sure it was, despite Zheng's considerably lower price tag." Tian said. "I would be thrilled to have him here as well, but the squad is starting to get a little bloated as it is!"
