Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For
AC Monticello, the formation of choice was 3-5-2.
Grilled clearly preferred using their
extra-terrestrial ability to attack in the middle. After 10 minutes,
Monticello's
Manuel Hidalgo made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1.
Grilled tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play. After 17 minutes,
Damian Hutter got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Manuel Hidalgo from
Monticello a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 22 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Chia Kwang Tse slowly got up on his feet, clutching his right thigh, but eventually signalled that he was ready to play on. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to
Grilled, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.
Khairil Anwar Hashim Mohd Ismail would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Dahan Bok entered the game for
Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes.
Grilled's
Damian Hutter put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored to make the score 1 - 1 with 51 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock. The referee showed
Monticello's
José Vicente Ceballos the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Following a nasty collision in the 54,
Grilled's
Mohsen El Khateeb complained of a damaged shoulder. He was advised against continuing the game.
Hwang Teck Fu tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. After 58 minutes,
Monticello put themselves up 1 - 2, as
Caitan Cayuela finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. The crowd roared in delight as
Damian Hutter finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for
Grilled 60 minutes into the match. 2 - 2. After 89 minutes, the
Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Markus Pallas off the field.
Chan Ze Han" class="homeplayer">
Chan Ze Han took his place. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact.
Raúl Himadas gave
Grilled the lead with a beautiful free kick after 90 minutes. 3 - 2! The match ends 3 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by
Grilled, with 57 percent of the ball.
Grilled's best player was
Raúl Himadas.
Fabricio Cardozo performed admirably for
Monticello.
