The 5804 spectators at Afterfloup Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Mário Simões was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Markus 'der böhse Onkel' Spieß and Benito Guillén. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. Afterfloup's starters: Diack - Ba, Coundoul, Kassoka, Voyel, Medou - Diong, Sow Mbaye, Benga - Abyaye, M'bow.

The following players took the field for Grilled: Marcol - Himadas, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Khairul, Keng Chuan, Teck Fu, Andrović - Thach, Chitre, An Keng.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Afterfloup FC went for 5-3-2 while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. The strategy for Afterfloup was to use their formidable ability to press. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+6) ability to attack in the middle. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. 0 - 1 was the score with 7 minutes played, after Lim An Keng cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Grilled. Afterfloup's Fatel Sow Mbaye made an attempt at equalising 8 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound. With the scoreboard showing that 17 minutes had been played, Grilled nearly put themselves up another goal after Lim An Keng came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. Afterfloup's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends. 夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 23 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 64 percent of the time.

As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Aw Keng Chuan reluctantly made way for 元気 (Genki) 長野 (Nagano) on the pitch. 54 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. Some lightning fast two foot dribbles by Fatel Sow Mbaye left 夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) way behind after 61 minutes, but the shot was just wide. 71 minutes into the game Afterfloup broke through on the left wing and Papa Abyaye managed to reduce the lead to 1 - 2. The pressing tactics used by Afterfloup were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from Mohd Marzuki Khairul after 77 minutes, and prevented Grilled from going up another goal. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Raúl Himadas gave Damian Hutter a quick hug as he left the field. As Raúl Himadas exited the field, 元気 (Genki) 長野 (Nagano) volunteered to be the new set pieces taker. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Darko 'Donnie' Andrović off the field. 冬馬 (Toma) 田宮 (Tamiya) took his place. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 1 minute beyond the regular 90 minutes. Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for Afterfloup, but Moussa M'bow's shot went over the bar. The match ends 1 - 2. Grilled had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.

Most important Afterfloup player was Papa Abyaye. Lim An Keng performed admirably for Grilled.
