Axel Delic could have scored for wien with his free kick after 40 minutes, but the visitors' keeper just managed to get a hand on it. With 40 minutes played, after a good run down the left, Simon Bechter went down looking for a penalty after a challenge from the visitors' right fullback, but the referee waved play on, and later warned him for diving. After 43 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as wien found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. It was 0 - 1 at the break. wien enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.

The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that wien had solid organisation.
