Grilled 4 - 0 Lógre
Due to an all-day shower, 4796 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at
The Cooking Pot.
Matt Swinburne was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Marco Huchting and
Héctor Fouillioux. The pitch was a disaster, due to all the rain. This spelled problems for the more sophisticated players, who usually could rely on speed or technique. For those relying on grit and strength, it actually meant an edge. Grilled's lineup was:
Bok -
Keng Chuan,
其材 (Qicai) -
Reddy,
Teck Fu,
Khairul,
Kwang Tse,
Trindade -
Thach,
Chitre,
An Keng.
Lógre fielded:
Boutin -
Rosales,
Constandache,
Boucherit -
Spit,
Guerenne,
Hołuj,
Demanov,
Lozanov -
Gayón,
Kalman.
Grilled Birds entered the field in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, Lógre, chose to start the game with a 3-5-2 lineup. Grilled demonstrated their divine (20) creative tactics on the field. At 27 minutes played,
Paulino Trindade came in from the right with the intention of giving Grilled the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. Lógre's
Jean-Benoît Boucherit was shown a yellow card after 29 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Dahan Bok was in no condition to play on. 29 minutes into the game he left the field on a stretcher, with his left thigh bandaged, and crying out in pain. The player that took his place was
Cameron Law. Grilled's
Chia Kwang Tse soared above the crowd, but couldn't knock the corner home 35 minutes into the match.
Aw Keng Chuan caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 38 minutes. This gave Grilled the 1 - 0 lead. After 42 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
Chad Thach gave the Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0. Grilled's
Paulino Trindade swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0. Grilled had most of the ball, with 67 percent of possession.
Chad Thach almost caused an own goal when he foolishly sent the ball towards his own goalie, but at the last minute one of his teammates managed to stop the ball. Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Chia Kwang Tse squirmed through their central defence after 61 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0. With 63 minutes played, Grilled's
Gandhik Chitre almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. 64 minutes in, Grilled's
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Guy Kalman was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his left knee after 64 minutes. The replacement for the injured player was
Marko Tomić. With 65 minutes played,
Lim An Keng could have brought this one home for Grilled as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy gave
冬馬 (Toma) 田宮 (Tamiya) a quick hug as he left the field. Grilled increased the lead as
夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) struck to make the score 4 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
Gandhik Chitre would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Chan Ze Han entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. After 89 minutes, the Lógre coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Mathias Boutin off the field.
Mehmet Emin Kalkan took his place. 89 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Lógre substitution.
Didier Edelman came on for
Tim Spit. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 4 - 0. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.
Most important Grilled player was
Lim An Keng. On the other hand,
Cameron Law's play was disheartening. Lógre's top performer was clearly
Alvaro Rosales.
Mehmet Emin Kalkan on the other hand, had a terrible day.
