Georgetown 1 - 6 Grilled
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 3076 that came out to
1.FC Georgetown Stadium.
Lyuben Raykov was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Niek Surmont and
Daniel Roca. It was a sunny day and the Technical players could roll the ball around with ease. Those that had to chase after the ball found the weather less appealing, it especially stymied the game of Powerful and Quick players. The following players took the field for Georgetown:
Sadziński -
Benassi,
Moro,
Kohler -
Zardoni,
Lozano,
Ternero,
Ostashev,
Correia -
Hiltermann,
Machlab.
Grilled fielded:
Law -
Hutter,
其材 (Qicai) -
Trindade,
Chitre,
Khairul,
An Keng,
田宮 (Tamiya) -
Kwang Tse,
Thach,
Teck Fu.
1.FC Georgetown fielded a 3-5-2 lineup. For Grilled Birds, the formation of choice was 2-5-3. Georgetown's opponents know to be wary of
Emilio Lozano's speed, but it made little difference as he flew past the defence 15 minutes into the game. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive! A mistake by the home side's central defence after 27 minutes allowed
Chia Kwang Tse to score for Grilled. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1. 30 minutes in, Grilled's
Mohd Marzuki Khairul received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Lim An Keng received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 36 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. With 41 minutes played,
Giorgio Zardoni of Georgetown fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. After 43 minutes, Grilled's
Hwang Teck Fu burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3. The Grilled free kick 43 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
Hwang Teck Fu, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 0 - 4! A slight injury to his left calf muscle meant
Cameron Law had to leave the match early. It happened after 44 minutes. The player that took his place was
Louis Vara. After 44 minutes,
冬馬 (Toma) 田宮 (Tamiya) sent the corner kick right to
Chia Kwang Tse who headed it sharply past the keeper. 0 - 5! With the scoreboard showing that 44 minutes had been played, Grilled nearly put themselves up another goal after
Chia Kwang Tse came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. Grilled came close to extending their lead as
夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 44 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. Halftime score was 0 - 5. Grilled had most of the ball, with 70 percent of possession.
冬馬 (Toma) 田宮 (Tamiya) would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Mohsen El Khateeb entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes.
冬馬 (Toma) 田宮 (Tamiya) was coming off, and had placed his last free kick for the day. That meant that
Mohsen El Khateeb got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. With 62 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
Chia Kwang Tse of Grilled to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 6. This third goal completed a hattrick for
Chia Kwang Tse. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from
Paulino Trindade after 69 minutes, and prevented Grilled from going up another goal. With the clock showing 70 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Georgetown resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by
António Correia in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. It took several tries, but Georgetown managed to break through on the left after 72 minutes, getting the ball to
Jorge Moro who easily reduced the lead to make the score 1 - 6. After 80 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Damian Hutter off the field.
Radovan Jaška took his place. Grilled's
Lim An Keng made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 80 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. The referee announced 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 1 - 6. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 68 percent of possession.
Akili Machlab performed admirably for Georgetown.
Maciej Sadziński was a disappointment, however. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Chia Kwang Tse.
Radovan Jaška turned in a dismal performance, however.
