Podlonk 1 - 5 Grilled
The 4233 fans in attendance at
Stadion Štab were roasting in the hot sun.
Franz-Josef Büchel was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mamoudou Saka Saley and
Austin 'El Friki' Francis. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. Podlonk fielded:
Arhar -
Nascimento,
Kołodziejczyk -
Terkaj,
Debreceni,
Rabap,
Medic,
Antić -
Maniago,
Matos,
Škvarča.
The following players took the field for Grilled:
Law -
Hutter,
其材 (Qicai) -
Trindade,
Chitre,
Khairul,
An Keng,
田宮 (Tamiya) -
Kwang Tse,
Thach,
Teck Fu.
As the teams spread out over the pitch, it became clear that they would both be using a 2-5-3 formation today. Down the middle came
Chia Kwang Tse, making a fantastic play that nearly had Grilled take the lead after 10 minutes, but
Karol Arhar preserved the tie. 0 - 1 was the score with 26 minutes played, after
Chad Thach cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Grilled. 34 minutes into the game, Podlonk wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Mirkó Debreceni gave
Ervin Švagelj a quick hug as he left the field. With 35 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
Mohd Marzuki Khairul of Grilled to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 2. After 36 minutes, Podlonk raised their score by one when
Branko Antić's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by
Zvonimir Terkaj. 1 - 2. 40 minutes into the match,
Lim An Keng came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 64 percent of the ball.
46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Mohsen El Khateeb came on for
冬馬 (Toma) 田宮 (Tamiya). With
冬馬 (Toma) 田宮 (Tamiya) no longer on the pitch,
Mohsen El Khateeb took over free kick duty. The visitors'
Mohd Marzuki Khairul took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 52 minutes into the match. 1 - 3 for Grilled.
Zvonimir Terkaj was doing a great job on his wing, sending in brilliant passes to his teammates in the middle, but
Branko Antić seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. A drive down the left side allowed
Chad Thach to get in close and score another goal for Grilled after 63 minutes, taking the score to 1 - 4. As the 80 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Gandhik Chitre reluctantly made way for
Teo Chuan Yong on the pitch. After 88 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Damian Hutter off the field.
Radovan Jaška took his place. The referee announced 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over.
Chia Kwang Tse received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 89 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 5. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The match ends 1 - 5. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
Podlonk's top performer was clearly
Ervin Švagelj.
Karol Arhar was a disappointment, however. Grilled's best player was
Chia Kwang Tse. However,
Radovan Jaška made a disastrous appearance.
