Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Sarcastic Fringeheads, the formation of choice was 5-5-0. Grilled used their divine (+9) (29) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Fringeheads on this day, taking advantage of their titanic (15) level with that tactic. Making his way up the middle 31 minutes into the match,
Mohd Marzuki Khairul almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
Rareş-Mihai Başturea blocked it to keep the score level. 35 minutes into the game,
Lyndon Oh had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. The guests almost went up by a goal after 37 minutes when
Brayden Vo came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though. The referee showed Fringeheads's
Liao Loong Lai the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 0 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 57 percent of the ball.
Fringeheads's
İrem Aktay managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 50 minutes. 0 - 1.
Heriberto Criado of Fringeheads received a yellow card after 61 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. After 69 minutes,
Mohd Marzuki Khairul made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 1 - 1. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Many thought
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy ought to have been awarded a penalty 70 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
Rareş-Mihai Başturea after a determined run through the middle. Fringeheads's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 71 minutes gone, but
Lesław Ambroziak's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper.
Lim An Keng gave Grilled the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1 The Grilled players could smell victory in the air.
Paulino Trindade wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
冬馬 (Toma) 田宮 (Tamiya) after 89 minutes.
Aw Keng Chuan left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 89 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
Damian Hutter was the replacement. With
Aw Keng Chuan no longer on the pitch,
冬馬 (Toma) 田宮 (Tamiya) became the new set pieces taker. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 1 minute beyond the regular 90 minutes. After 89 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
冬馬 (Toma) 田宮 (Tamiya) might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Rareş-Mihai Başturea made a spectacular save. With 90 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Fringeheads resulted in a counterattack that set
Liao Loong Lai free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. It emerged that
Gandhik Chitre had hurt his right foot after 90 minutes, which led him to abandon the game. This gave
Teo Chuan Yong a chance to take to the field instead. The match ends 2 - 1. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Mohd Marzuki Khairul.
冬馬 (Toma) 田宮 (Tamiya) was a disappointment, however.
Heriberto Criado performed admirably for Fringeheads.
Rareş-Mihai Başturea turned in a dismal performance, however.
