Mardi Frås
The academy sales of the week saw the Busy Bees' 17 year-old winger Mardi bin Ahmad move to Norway's FK Framifrå, with the VI.8 club stocking up on a veritable host of apprentices. Mardi accepted that it would be an uphill battle to stand out from the crowd and impress Polish head coach Roman Kosiec, but that he was not going to shy away from the challenge.
Mardi had also been approached by Dutch VI.953 side Laat ons voetballen, who settled for recruiting the Chicken Wings' Thomas Tung. More of a physical presence and aerial threat than the slender Mardi, Tung was simply grateful to Finnish gaffer Teemu Stång for the trust placed in him. "It's fiendishly hard to get a foot in nowadays, I know." he said. "You don't know how much this means to me."
Wings scout Lim Hock Puay was encouraging, while admitting that Tung was not one of the squad's premier prospects. For example, junior Kendell El Khateeb has been making huge waves since his arrival barely a week ago, and is already being hailed as a talent maybe on the par of
Mohd Marzuki Khairul. "I haven't seen this hype in ages." his recruiter Mok Feng De grinned.
