Othitikos 1 - 2 Grilled

4331 fans braved the pouring rain at Dimotiko Megaro Othous. Alexandr Pojar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Clément Leprieur and Vladimir Shashkin. While a boggy pitch like this was an advantage for physical players, it really didn't help those who relied on speed or technique. Othitikos's starters: Clarke - Diggs, Meade, Ryan, Brown, Beck - Avendaño, Wheeler, Carlyle - Travis, Dunaway.

Grilled fielded: Law - Hutter, 其材 (Qicai) - Trindade, Chitre, Keng Chuan, An Keng, 田宮 (Tamiya) - Kwang Tse, Khairul, Teck Fu.

Othitikos C.F.P. fielded a 5-3-2 lineup. For Grilled Birds, the formation of choice was 2-5-3. 夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) had a good try after 12 minutes, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when Mohd Marzuki Khairul was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 26 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Victor Dunaway from Othitikos a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 35 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Damian Hutter was in no condition to play on. He left the field limping after 35 minutes, with his left thigh bandaged. Mohsen El Khateeb had already been warming up, and came on for Damian Hutter. Othitikos took the lead 38 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as Johnny Meade elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Grilled tied it all up, 39 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by Gandhik Chitre, who miraculously broke through the home side's central defence, making it 1 - 1. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 70 percent of the time.

Grilled took the lead 53 minutes into the game, making the score 1 - 2 after some elegant movement down the middle. Lim An Keng was the scorer. Grilled came close to extending their lead as Aw Keng Chuan delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 55 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. Just a few inches to the right, and the visitors could have had a goal 62 minutes into the match. 冬馬 (Toma) 田宮 (Tamiya) surely wishes he could do that free kick over again. 63 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. The home crowd cheered when, after 73 minutes, Mohsen El Khateeb's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. 80 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Aw Keng Chuan gave Chan Ze Han a quick hug as he left the field. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minute. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 1 - 2. Grilled had most of the ball, with 69 percent of possession.

Othitikos's top performer was clearly Victor Dunaway. Linval Clarke turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Chia Kwang Tse. Mohsen El Khateeb was a disappointment, however.
