United 1 - 8 Grilled

Clear skies welcomed the 28207 spectators who had made their way to Cats Arena. Javier Agudelo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jeremy Alders and Paweł Korwek. Everyone was excited about the upcoming Jurong derby and the crowd was divided evenly. Lineup: Jing Yun - Kian Puay, Kesineni - Chiu, Ping Min, Shasthri, Petrinski, Dong Hock - Ming Huat, Zainul Ariffin, Abdul Muhaimin.

The following players had been chosen: Batâr - 中北 (Nakakita), 入江 (Irie) - Künzler, Muthyala, Xin Seng, Xin Lee, Romijn - Ze Han, Davlatov, Parvathaneni.

As the teams prepared to start the match, they both lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. United clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, taking advantage of their excellent level with that tactic. The terraces were silenced after 9 minutes when Grilled's Florus Romijn put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right. Neeraj Muthyala slowly got up on his feet, clutching his right thigh, but eventually signalled that he was ready to play on. In a rapid move 20 minutes into the match, Cyril Künzler of Grilled lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked Chan Ze Han who easily hit it home to make it 0 - 2. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! Moey Xin Seng could have put his team up another goal 21 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. United almost scored after a counterattack 22 minutes into the match, but Teo Dong Hock took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net. After 28 minutes of game time, Kalki Parvathaneni had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but Aw Jing Yun was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. Terence Chiu sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from Cheung Kian Puay after 34 minutes of play, making the score 1 - 2. After 35 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Chu Xin Lee a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 3. Florus Romijn increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 1 - 4. It was 1 - 4 at the break. Grilled had most of the ball, with 69 percent of possession.

The Grilled players could smell victory in the air. 雄輝 (Yuki) 入江 (Irie) wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Hoàng Trung Quá after 46 minutes. Grilled increased their lead after 64 minutes when Cyril Künzler broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 5, much to the home crowd's dismay. Chu Xin Lee of Grilled took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 69 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 6. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Grilled's Cyril Künzler somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for Kalki Parvathaneni, who struck for 1 - 7. The home crowd was not impressed when 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 80 minutes. Grilled were now up 1 - 8. Grilled's Kalki Parvathaneni was shown a yellow card after 83 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Grilled coach let 田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) replace Neeraj Muthyala after 85 minutes. 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 85 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. Rashid bin Ahmad was the replacement. The referee showed Grilled's Islom Davlatov the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The referee announced 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 1 - 8. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 69 percent of the time.

The most dominating United player was without a doubt Cheung Kian Puay. Blagoy Petrinski turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Grilled player was Islom Davlatov. Rashid bin Ahmad was a disappointment, however.
