Bakunin cleared out so-called deadwood with a vengeance, incurring the wrath of supporters for daring to offload such popular
personalities as Attimarad, Machado and even top performer Daniel Tellskär. He was tolerated, however, as the first eleven rolled on nevertheless and won the league handily.
The league was assigned another abandoned team as navin propped up the rest of the table, and Grilled would lose only the once to Shadow Chaser FC as they avenged their drubbing last season. Grilled's dominance was underlined by their habit of scoring at least three goals in all remaining league contests but one.
The Cup was a disappointment on the scale of the catastrophe two seasons ago, as Division Four giantkillers ViRtU@L FC demolished an overconfident Grilled side in regular time. To add insult to injury, Grilled had fielded an almost full-strength team, and it was as if they were cursed to fail in the Cup if they enjoyed success in the league.
But enjoy success in the league they did, as they routinely terrorised the other sides with an infectious momentum. The highlight was undoubtedly the away title-decider with FC GBR. Grilled had won 5-3 at home, but FC GBR were in similar form and knew that the league would well be theirs with a win.
FC GBR raced to a 3-1 half-time lead, and when Örjan 'Pavan' Falkenstål struck the fourth in the 68th minute it appeared curtains for Grilled. Astoundingly, Wilson Kearney answered two minutes later, and in the space of ten minutes Tellskär, Rottman and Kek-Tjiang had overturned an insurmountable lead to confirm the championship.
The eagerly-awaited qualifiers for the S-League saw Grilled humiliated by FC RaZer Infernus 7-0, and clearly it was not yet time for Grilled to take the last step.
