Stalemates All Over
It was a very good Sunday for league leaders Random Curiosity FC indeed, as they extended the gap at the top to a full three points, with goal difference also in their favour. They were not altogether immune to slipping up, however, and their trip to Crypto Moon - regarded as so much of a sure-win that bookies had closed wagers on it early - nearly ended in a draw, like the other matches in the round. Eduardo Miguieles got the home crowd going with his great strike from the right in the 65th, but Curiosity would hold on after Louie Knight responded promptly.
With this, Random Curiosity FC are now very close to their first-ever S-League title, and if Sarcastic Fringeheads do not stop them next week, it must be as good as theirs. This might have preyed on the Fringeheads' collective minds in their game against -= Manchester United =- today, in which Pierre-Étienne Marguet made it 2-2 with just two minutes remaining. Haha fared no better, and would have to rely on Aw Tian Jin's last chance saloon free-kick, to even claw a point at Robbie Football Club.
"It's looking like Curiosity's to lose." midfielder
Chu Xin Lee said. "There are seasons where it all appears to flow one's way, we just had a few of those, and this seems like theirs."
Farmer Bunnies did what they could with a 5-0 humbling of bottom club Rivervale Titans, which however was no more than expected, and which still leaves them four points off Kungfu 11.
Vitaliy Efendiev did at least show signs of growing into the Buns' system, as he notched a brace in the second half.
Nguyễn Văn Chương managed the same from rightback in another big performance, with
Richard Agyei making up the last.
Finally, Grilled International were given a walkover by H.I. IV.57 club carletes, as IV.54 swept the ninth round of the Battle for Division IV, with only their second aggregate win. The Sun men and Molto Bassa Parmese both scored seven each against their opponents, with FC HaNo Int. managing a consolation by Miko Eskelinen against the former, and C.D. Jorge Wilstermann unable to answer against Molto.
