Seven Even
Chewed Up
Even FC didn't enjoy their visit to Gamma Stadium one bit, as they were completely outclassed in front of a full house of 43000. Chen was the star as he bagged a hat-trick, but all of Grilled's players came out smelling of roses in a very good team performance.
The visitors were largely unchanged from the side that lost 1-4 last week, with the only difference being Wei Dorgon coming in for Ho-fai at left wing. Grilled' didn't care, and a solo raid by
Aznan Noor Yadah meant that his team were ahead after eight minutes.
It was all one-way traffic as Grilled supplied their frontmen generously, and despite some wasteful finishing,
Chen Chiew-Yen had his hat-trick by the end of the half. Partner
Miguel Reed got in on the act too as
Ma Dai-Lin proved effective coming down the left, and a frazzled Even FC could only garner a yellow card, given to Mar Dzung-Trung.
Dai-Lin was rather less threatening as a striker, as he missed an absolute sitter after Even FC goalkeeper Gao Lon-chan misjudged a cross from Aznan in the second half. He was superb at causing chaos on the wing, however, and Gao, who actually made numerous good saves, would have to point out Ma as the reason who Reed scored in the 69th minute.
Even FC's big break came in the 82nd minute when Dorgon beat a complacent Aznan down the left and tricked Siu-Cheung into the bargain, but Eric Palmer was a yard too slow to meet Dorgon's through pass. Worse, Bao-Tam's goal kick found its way to
Daniel Tellskär, who made it 7-0.
The end of the match wasn't pretty as the Even FC players, with nothing to play for, engaged in some gamesmanship, which got Tellskär booked. Chen was no angel himself, and after a hard challenge on Bredo Tronstad, he seriously hurt Loong Thanh-long and was fortunate not to be sent off.
