No Mercy Man Town
Back With A Vengeance
Roused by their exit from the Singapore Cup at the hands of S-League side Hattrick all the time, Grilled Birds returned to league duty by whipping Manchester Town F.C 8-0.
Chen Chiew-Yen made up for last Wednesday's disappointments quickly enough, looping the ball into the Manchester goal with two minutes on the clock. Manchester's left wing got into trouble soon, with wingback Liu Han getting a yellow card for impeding play and winger Sapian bin Salleh hopping out of the game with a swollen knee. Grilled were quick to press the advantage, and Dai-Lin capitalised on Liu Han's unwillingness to commit with some neat dribbling and a fierce cross.
Tim Hobson as usual got on the end of that one, putting it under Manchester keeper Yuan-shin. Machado got a rather pedestrian third, before Manchester lost another player, this time to
Zhan Ju-Hau's poorly timed tackle. Sweeper Ma Zheng-Qi had to be carried off, to be replaced by Sahabudin bin Razali.
Machado earned his second goal after Manchester rearranged their side slightly during the half-time interval, as he ran onto
Tom Pence's hopeful centre in the 47th minute.
Chen Chiew-Yen produced a rare hat-trick as he broke through first on the left and then on the right, thanks to Hobson's generous passing. In between his goals,
Ma Dai-Lin's adventurous forays upfront were rewarded with a well-converted half-chance. Manchester persisted in leaving three men upfront throughout, even though they had barely a touch between them all night as Noor Yadah in particular was ruthlessly efficient in clearing upfield passes.
Tom Pence rounded out the scoring with a basic shuffle, run and shoot fifteen minutes from time.
