Not Sven Day
Kau Opens
English Division Five stragglers Sven's Superstars were aggressively trounced by the charged-up Grilled frontline. The Hobson and Attimarad partnership reaped a fiver from Sven's poor defending, as tall defender
Kau Siu-Cheung rose over Dylan Severac to claim one for himself after just four minutes.
Hobson failed with his next corner, but returned to his favourite hobby - scoring. There was nothing too special about the goal he got in the eleventh minute, as he threaded a path through a defence in disarray and lofted a soft shot past Thomas MacWalrick. Magunsson was involved in a challenge on the Sven goalie in mid-air, and though the ball did end up in the net the referee disallowed the goal and booked the outraged Swede. MacWalrick had to have a plaster applied to his nose.
Attimarad was helped by MacWalrick's reduced mobility when he sped past Dean in a wide circle and calmly passed the ball into the far corner of goal. Machado showed his bite with a highly technical volley that arched into the top of the net, then highly-rated recruit
Chai Yew-Hoe got his studs into Blane Donlevy on the other side.
Tom Pence intercepted the crossfield free kick and assisted Attimarad in taking a fourth goal from the side.
Sven had one go at a consolation goal when Siu-Cheung collapsed over Cray in the penalty area. The referee made the unpopular decision to give a spot kick, and the fans went crazy when Cray sidefooted it metres wide of the post.
Tim Hobson had a good time pandering to his supporters, taking defenders this way and that and eventually hitting the target after some near misses. Debutant
Chai Yew-Hoe's big day was shortened as he was booked a second time on a technicality, and he looked despondant as he left his mates behind.
Sven's McDonough excited his team with a powerful effort that careened off the bottom of the bar onto the goalline, that
Xing Hua dashed back to clear with Cray at his back. Hobson yearned for his hat-trick and thought he had it when Kumar banged into him on his run into the danger zone, and was astonished when the referee saw it as a blatant dive. MacWalrick saved his long shot with one hand later on, but Hobson's desire won through as he slipped through after seventy-five minutes.
