Dorogan Dominates
Grilled leaped at the chance to drag themselves up the league table by hosting promotees De_Sangkakala United, who have yet to gain a point, or even score a goal, in their opening two matches. A midweek Cup defeat to C-Towners could have done little to aid their morale, and it was understandable that the Grilled fans who made an appearance expected nothing less than a big win.
De_Sangkakala won some neutrals over by refusing to sit back, a logical move as they had decent attacking qualities. Italian playmaker Giorgio Valsecchi would not have looked out of place in the Grilled midfield, and they had a proven forward duo of Gustavo Miguel Moreno and Kristof Drieskens, both with over a century of career goals. Unfortunately, that was about the extent of their powers.
The visitors tried to keep things simple by playing to their strengths, but that kept things easy for the Grilled defenders as well. After yet another attempted through pass was booted back by Talib, Mohd Safri pushed the ball past Dieu after a slip by the French defender and pumped it blindly at goal. That was deflected only as far as Rotteveel, who patiently avoided an incoming tackle before making it 1-0.
Rotteveel didn't rest after that, and his sheer appetite for football set an example to his younger teammates. Ten minutes later, he set off on an all-out sprint down the middle after the visitors' central defenders looked away for a split second, and arrived just as Bögengang's pass crossed his path, just like clockwork.
With two in the bag already, the magnificent Dutchman then assisted
Gleb Dorogan to his first goal for Grilled from an indirect free-kick, which came as some relief to the Moldovan midfielder who had seen several good efforts saved by goalkeepers in previous games. The euphoria affected Dorogan so much so that he played a suicidal backpass to Paco Pepe Merino, and the Spanish winger was inches from getting his team's league breakthrough, dropping his lob onto the post.
Domenik Bögengang then mopped up for Grilled's fourth goal, after a lucky nick off a defender placed the ball on his shooting foot, and a hectored Guevara gave away a penalty by barging Han Kok over in his eagerness to claim a cross. As is custom, Rotteveel was given the responsibility of converting the penalty, and with his stroked shot into the corner surpassed Ola Martinsson with 228 total goals.
The final result was never in doubt when the second half began, and after some overall sloppy play, Rotteveel and Bögengang were rested for Torsson and Salieri respectively. The latter had a great chance to open his league account as he read Penati's intentions perfectly, and did nothing wrong with his powerful left-footed drive, but Guevara sprang gracefully to the ire of the Italian forward.
Torsson attempted to make things happen, but it just wasn't his day as his dribbles usually lost the ball, and De_Sangkakala found Grilled's now-teenaged forward line far more straightforward to deal with. They would not leave unscathed, though, as Crkvenjakov blew the left side of their defence away to complete the rout.
