Catenaccio Chaining
Tapšík Triple
Slovakian Division Six team Catenaccio Bratislava did Grilled no favours as they humiliated the reserves in front of nearly 4000 at Defenders stadium. Although the hosts played a defensive 4-5-1, it transpired to be even worse on the Birds, as their tentative attacks petered out even more quickly than usual.
Catenaccio got off to a roaring start when they got a free-kick just outside the box in the fifth minute, which was sent straight in to lone forward Naor Chazan. The speedy Israeli, while not the tallest, managed to head it backwards to the feet of Koszta, who boomed it into the onion bag without a second thought.
That was just the beginning of Grilled's torture, as playmaker Stanislav Justus made a smart run out to the right, leaving himself open for a pass that duly came. He slotted that past Bao-Tam with ease. Andrej Tapšík then rose with authority to head in the third from a corner, delivered by Koszta who smashed in a fourth as he rampaged forward from central defence.
There were two more to come even before half-time, as Grilled's defence appeared to give up the ghost.
Weng Seng-Huat went through the motions, barely getting off the ground as Branco flew in to connect with yet another header, while Chazan completed his brace after emerging with the ball despite a couple of defenders in his way.
More of the same in the second half, with Justus displaying his famed free-kick power as he bent the ball right into Bao-Tam's top corner, a goal which even a world-class goalie might not have been able to prevent. Koszta then achieved a hat-trick from defence as he once again ran straight through, which put the score up to 8-0.
Justus and Tapšík then followed with trebles of their own, as Grilled's representatives were just happy to get off the pitch by the end of the match.
