Moore Pain
Two Quads
Grilled suffered yet another ignominious defeat, this time against against Dutch Division Four side Vinnie Moore Boys, likely named after the hard rock musician. The star for the Boys was undoubtedly nippy central midfielder Zeger van der Hoek, who was clearly the standout player on the pitch and made it all so easy for his club.
Three goals were nabbed in the opening six minutes by the hosts, with 18 year-old defensive midfielder Mário Saturnino hitting the jackpot with what looked like a mishit low cross. There was nothing fortunate about teenaged Swede Olof Gustavsson's hat-trick that followed, though, and if he continues to develop, Vinnie will have a real gem on their hands.
The hosts got to 5-0 by the 24th minute for good measure, with Polish lad Orest Szabłowski making it count from a free-kick a few metres outside the box. He bent it around Chuancheng, the last man in the wall, and although the ball didn't have too much pace on it by the time it reached the goal, it was still too well-placed for Bao-Tam to catch.
Szabłowski continued his fine vein of form in the second half, and after some close shaves, got a second off a nice swivelling move that mislead his marker.
Grilled did finally get some satisfaction after that, as
Lim Chuan Heng got his head to Grilled's first corner, delivered by Hjortlind. Unfortunately, it went right to goalie Sybren Counotte, but Huihong caught a stroke of luck when the veteran inexplicably fumbled the easy catch, and the wingback instantly stabbed it into the net.
That appeared to shake the Birds, who might have considered it mission accomplished given their prior record. True enough, Vinnie Moore Boys lost no time in taking advantage, and both Szab?owski and Gustavsson completed their take of four goals, with fullback Tigo Block also getting his name in lights.
