Teutons Triumph
Józiak Joust
Grilled's reserves couldn't quite relax as they were wiped by German club Teutonia Isingdorf in their midweek friendly, even as the first team accompanied them on a rare training trip abroad.
Although the entire Grilled squad, bar the unfortunate Firdaus, took part in the morning drills and drew a cosy crowd of onlookers, it was a less-than-convincing eleven who lined up against Teutonia Isingdorf in the late afternoon. It wasn't long before defender Przemysław Józiak followed up his free-kick goal with a penalty, as Grilled's second-stringers were toyed with by the hosts.
While the Birds arguably had the most quality on the wings, Teutonia's pairing of José Antonio Riesco and Fănuş Ilie had their moments too, with Ilie supplying Emanuel Cacavano with a goal after some very naive defending from the Birds. Chuancheng, who probably expected more after his participation in the league win against akodo, fouled an opponent in a fit of pique and was punished with a booking.
Vlad Măciucă and Fredemar Maan made it 5-0 by half-time, as Grilled found themselves short not only on skill but also on fitness, as
Ivaylo Mirchev stumbled off with a cramp.
Tan Ze Yeow was happy to get a runout, and spent added time stretching his legs with some eager runs.
The home team swapped Vlad Măciucă with recent signing Adrian Bärje ater the break, and the 18 year-old proved useful dashing about the Grilled backline, leading to another goal by Maan, this time off an indirect free-kick.
Dutchman Nils van Kassel then completed a late hat-trick minutes after Józiak got his, with Huihong, Riesco and Maan being the additions to the referee's black book. Ze Yeow deserved a mention as he created Grilled's best chance of the game by springing for a corner kick with convincing aggression, but couldn't get proper contact on the ball and ended up sending it a whisker too high.
