Dragons 5 - 0 Grilled
rk skies made the crowd of 1322 at Doha's Lair a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Vito Cabiddu was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Sebastian Cibrovius and
Kai Dienhart. Dragons started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Kodrup - Gerayev, Hussein, El-Basim - Anbari, Ursa, Lacroix, Mostafa, Al-Rashid - Rajan, Abed-Ibraheem.
Grilled tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. Lineup: Bao-Tam - 辉洪 (Huihong) , Chuan Heng, Seng-Huat, bin Othman - å·åŸŽ (Chuancheng) , Mirchev, Kok Chuan, 剑勇 (Jianyong) - Hjortlind, bin Yaacob.
Malik Abed-Ibraheem gave Dragons the lead with 1 - 0, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the keeper's right post. With 17 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience,
Lim Chuan Heng needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. The home side's
Zaid Mostafa curled a free kick home after 18 minutes, putting Dragons ahead 2 - 0.
Fu Jun Chang was called on to replace Grilled's
胡 (Hu) 辉洪 (Huihong) after 35 minutes following a nasty collision.
Sebastian Ursa unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Grilled's
Weng Seng-Huat a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 39 minutes into the game. After 40 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Loïc Lacroix might have resulted in another goal for Dragons. However,
Hang Bao-Tam made a spectacular save. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Dragons's
Malik Abed-Ibraheem got himself booked. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. Dragons claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 74 percent.
Foong Kok Chuan seemed highly inexperienced when, after 48 minutes, he was caught dilly-dallying with the ball and allowed
Zaid Mostafa to intercept and strike home the 3-0 goal for Dragons. With 60 minutes played, Dragons put themselves up 4 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
Malik Abed-Ibraheem, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Dragons added another goal to their lead as
Wasim Gerayev struck home the 5 - 0 goal after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper. After this, Dragons lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. The game was close to savage at times, and Dragons's
Malik Abed-Ibraheem received a second yellow card after 65 minutes, his ticket out of the game. Dragons's
Mohammad Al-Rashid saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 70 minutes. Grilled's
Ulf Hjortlind got himself booked for a foul. Dragons's
Abdeen Hussein went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. Dragons held the ball, with a clear 70 percent of possession.
Sebastian Ursa performed admirably for Dragons.
Digambara Rajan on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Grilled player was
范 (Fan) å·åŸŽ (Chuancheng) .
Weng Seng-Huat was a disappointment, however. The match ends 5 - 0.
