Gored By The Horde
Buandelgereen Burying
Grilled succumbed to Mongolian Division Two side Gorkhi Terelj in rather unbecoming fashion, letting in eight without reply despite not being overwhelmingly outclassed. The rot from a chain of deflating defeats seemed to have finally taken hold of the side, as they surrendered with an insipid performance.
The local fans weren't about to do the visiting Birds any favour, and were in full voice despite their relatively low numbers. Munkhbayar Tolui, who led a fully homegrown side, won the loudest cheers as he brought down a challenging pass from midfield before smashing it past Bao-Tam for the first goal.
Bao-Tam was soon back in the thick of the action as he dived low to barely push aside Amarsanaa Buandelgereen's flicked header, but couldn't do anything as the winger scored twice in three minutes to put the game beyond Grilled. Ganbold Suren, one of a pair of brothers playing defence for Gorkhi, made it four before half-time. This was especially disappointing, given that Gorkhi weren't quite up to par either.
Grilled might have made a fight of it had they tried, but low motivation combined with poor understanding brought only a pair of bookings for Pingzheng and Firdaus. Even then, Grilled might have broken their duck as Ganbold Suren gifted Hjortlind a great chance as he allowed the Swede to nick the ball off his, but Hjortlind was over-eager to try his luck and produced a woeful grounder.
Suren made up for that with his goal later on, and might have had another in the second half when Koke slipped the ball through to him. However, he opted for power over precision, and sent the ball over the first tier of stands. Grilled conceded from an indirect free-kick, Munkhbayar Tolui the scorer, before going down to ten men as Pingzheng made an unwise tackle out of sheer frustration.
It was just not Grilled's day as a great cushioned header by Seng-Huat was met by an alert Mirchev's sliding effort, only to see the ball come off the post. By now completely demoralized, the Birds let in three more in the final ten minutes to end another friendly on a low.
