Alemannia Annihilation
Triple Doubles
The Birds gave Swiss Division Eight visitors Alemannia Zurzach-Unna 05 something to chew on, as their fiece red and black kits availed them little against Grilled's all-out attack. Hjortlind, Ødegaard and Sid all picked up braces, with
Lee Jie Siong also getting on the scoresheet.
Hjortlind, having had his discreet push to partner Simon in Martinsson's absence rebuffed by the coach so far, unleashed his pent-up frustration on the Alemannia backline. They had trouble containing him from the get-go, and their 20 year-old Hungarian sweeper would be brushed aside rather easily by the raging Swiss, affording his keeper little protection as the first goal was scored.
Hjortlind cooled down a bit after again shrugging off poor Peszeni to whip in a second, but this didn't afford the visitors much breathing space. German midfielder Schmidbaur was judged to have taken the ball away unfairly from Bukhari in midfield, and was cautioned when he petulantly kicked the ball away after play was stopped.
Ødegaard then rose to his full height to direct the third goal in with his head from a chaotic situation in the opposition six-yard area, which Alemannia responded to with their only goal of the match. It was a pretty one, as Veli-Pekka Grålund picked out Quirin from sixty metres, with the burly striker demonstrating impeccable control to trap and shoot in one fluid motion to beat Bao-Tam.
Sid then made it 4-1 with a signature curler into the top corner that proved impossible for Rippstein to get across to in time, likely even if he had been given advance warning. Even the normally withdrawn Fredgård made a break down the left flank into enemy territory, and he even supplied a cross that would make most wingers proud. Peszeni met the ball before Hjortlind could get to it, however, winning his first duel against the Swede for the day.
Sweet passing led to Ødegaard putting away a fifth in the 67th minute, and
Lee Jie Siong carried on Hjortlind's crazy run after he was felled to claim the sixth goal. Sid then weaved his way past two fellow defenders to make it seven, and Bukhari and Shen both skied late attempts that could have padded Grilled's goal difference.
