QCM Clear Birds
Freak Margin
While last Wednesday's 8-0 whipping by a far stronger Gratamira Gunners was to be expected, the Grilled reserve side was left scratching their collective heads at how a not significantly better QCM-Kickers made it seven to nothing against them. One may point out the psychedelic design of their newfangled jerseys, but it may just have everything to do with a leaky defence and a lot of luck on the hosts' side.
20 year-old Dutch striker Riekus Ysselstein had to be the Man of the Match, as he plundered four goals for his Liechtenstein Division Two side and got a yellow card even. Argentinean strike partner Benito Agüero began setting the tone by whacking balls into Grilled's defences repeatedly, before Ysselstein did it the graceful way by ghosting past Tuan-Mu to deliver the opener.
Two more followed in quick succession, one off his head, and the second with his other foot. In between, Chuan Jing was booked for a hard tackle as QCM's midfielder Wilhelm Hilti made a mess of things in the virtually unplayable center circle; The referee had to inspect the pitch, but eventually elected to continue the match.
Agüero then outflanked a disheartened and static Grilled backline, receiving a timely lobbed pass from Ysselstein before bending it out of Bao-Tam's reach to record a half-time score of 4-0. In actual fact, Grilled looked good value for a draw, but the hosts' forwards were simply on fire, and all they touched turned to goals.
As Grilled's own front men laboured with their indifferent fortunes, QCM were back at it again. Sweeper Gino Monsch got cautioned for dragging Hjortlind down, but nothing came of the resulting free-kick. Bao-Tam brilliantly kept out Agüero's deflected strike, but was helpless when a later shot trickled across the penalty area right into a sprinting Kurt Wallbach's path. Five-nil.
Even Monsch's second booking and automatic dismissal didn't avail Grilled, and with each misplaced pass, the team's confidence steadily eroded away. The ten men of QCM were in far higher spirits as they continued their exhibition, and Slovenian right winger Zdravko Kapic drifted in to record a sixth before assisting Ysselstein for the seventh and final goal.
