Cannon Bao Sets Sail
Seventeen year-old free-kick specialist Zhuang "Cannon" Baobang was transferred to high-flying Spanish Division Ten side Kazad-dûm for a consideration of S$8000. Zhuang, a Chinese PR, initially did not have the support of his parents in making soccer his career, but this turn in events, bringing with it a salary of close to S$6000 a month, has convinced them.
"I knew that I was good but not outstanding as a striker," Zhuang said. "so I stayed back after training to practise my free kicks, an hour each time. That led to my secondary school coach selecting me as the captain when I was only in Secondary Three, and I ended up getting noticed by Grilled's scouts in the District finals, which we unfortunately lost."
The other clubs that went after Zhuang were Flopstarz (Danish Division Seven), Purple Tops (Italian Division Eight) and AC Kuula (Suomi Division Five).
