Grilled's first friendly of the season wound out to be a whipping at the hands of Panama club Gratamira Gunners, who put eight without reply past the hapless reserve Birds.
Led by playmaker Pedro Caldeira, who had no peer in midfield, the Gunners methodically wore down Grilled's players with a patient short passing game. Jesús Oropeza then applied the finish to a bunged effort from Adal Manchego in the 23rd minute to add spice to what had been a bland show.
Oropeza wasn't quite as saintly as his namesake as he petulantly flung the ball to the ground after being denied a free kick, earning himself a silly booking, but that didn't impede Gratamira in the slightest as they went triple A in a few minutes.
Antonio Barragán appeared to climb all over Alcántara in the 30th minute to score, but the referee let that pass; Emboldened by that, Antonio Ubierna then dropped another header past Bao-Tam in the next minute, before Adal Manchego plopped the fourth in. Ubierna even found time to throw a fit after being judged to have pushed Jie Siong in going for the ball.
The second half continued in like fashion as Grilled found no egress, and Israeli right winger Viktor Kascheev tore past a stumbling Siu-Cheung to whack a fifth goal in with style.
Manchego, Ubierna and Oropeza then all completed their braces as Grilled's players dropped to little more than walking pace under the hot sun, as the 4000-strong in attendance clapped their approval.
